Red Pepper
Hey this is Chris, here are the notes and quotes taken by Whitney from the last meeting.
I. Show Up
Working and living as a creative person never stops. You must always show up mentally and physically. This takes both ambition and imitative.
- "Creativity is not a talent, it is an obligation" we must "take owenership of your talents"
- " Attitude is Everything."
-"Never stop learning/reading"
-"Talent is Never enough"
All this to become a "talent plus" person.
II. Being real is so hard
-94% will continue or increase their investment in online communities and social media.
-Social media= HIGHLY measurable
-Advertisers are not set up to integrate traditional media tactics with online strategies.
-Advertising is moving away from the disruptive "big idea" towards persuasion through fitting organically into the consumer's social sphere. (insight into human behavior)
The industry is no longer separate departments. The new system focuses on integration, because we must realize that everyone is "a creative." This new strategy has the potential to great new ideas and unique opportunities.
III. Portfolio
-Online
-Email for Interview
-Focus on your strengths
-Present work that you are proud of and
work that represents you.
-Show strategic thinking.
-STAND OUT!!!
---
"Be yourself and be respectful."
"Realize it does not come natural. Choose to be creative. Never stop learning and influencing others. ALWAYS HAVE FUN!"
Tips- 1. Integrate 2. Do Internships

University Writing Center Logo & Slogan Opportunity
Another opportunity to build your portfolio! From University Writing Center: The University Writing Center is holding a Logo/Slogan contest. The contest is open to all current MTSU students, and we’re eliciting original logo designs and/or slogans. All entries will be considered by the Writing Center administration, and the winning design will become the official Logo of the Margaret H. Ordoubadian University Writing Center—a great way for someone to leave their mark on MTSU! Obviously, we’re looking for fresh, creative, and dramatically appropriate material—no umbrellas, quill pens, light bulbs, or sheep, please. I’ve attached a copy of our flyer, and I encourage you all to pass word along to your students. The deadline is November 1st (for now). Please direct any interested students to the Writing Center should they need more info. We appreciate your help in this matter!

Speakers (Updated 9/25)
Just wanted to announce 2 of our speakers lined up for this semester!
On October 13th, Danna Grigson and Stephanie Ferguson from The Buntin Group's Media department and James Whitaker, Senior Account Executive with Clear Channel, will discuss Ad2 and what it's like to work in Media.
On November 24th, Hannah Paramore, President of ParamoreRedd, will be speaking. More info on that later as well.
de la Blue - I spoke with Alexander Chevy and we have the green light. I'm still waiting on the budget! Start thinking about what your group wants to do based on the research provided for you in your folder. If you can stay for a few minutes after the next meeting, we'll discuss strategy.
